Wanted: Cheap Coffee houses

Coffee houses are cool. They are coming up in droves in Delhi, NCR and other metros but there seems to be one problem with all of them, they are bloody expensive. Coffee houses are supposed to be places where the young can chill out, relax, have coffees and hang around with their friends. But, generally buying a Rs. 50 coffee is not acceptable to the average college going student. Agreed, they have excellent coffee, but I believe the same coffee can be served at half the price and still the profits can be covered up by the increase in volumes. A very small percentage of college going crowd prefers to hang out in Coffee houses like Barista or Cafe Coffee day. They're generally filled with the people who are earning. C'mon guys. Coffee houses should be young, McDonalds doesn't sell it's burgers at the same price as it sells in U.S. or Europe. We desperately need coffee houses catering to the average Indian consumer.

A serious off the track thinking.

Inspite of the price, I can't resist tropical iceberg of CCD...:D

It ain't off track buddy. Although I love Barista but I would've gone there much more often had it been cheaper. I think about this every time I go there

see the point you are missing in lowering the price and making it increasing accesible to you is that the people running this show are happy with more margin and a little less customers maintaing almost the same turnover. It has a lot to do with the strategic location of these big brand places that helps them get through even after the "astronomical figures" they ask for what they give.....

I know what you're talking about...

but these people are not exactly getting your point, are they?

i remember there used to be some coffee houses in delhi circa 1995... i was 6 then...:)

but CCD and barista owners don't give a shit about college students, they just want their profits and they open outlets mostly in posh colonies in delhi where people ae ready to shell out the money for their exorbitantly priced coffee
